    “Apollo e Dafne”.

Apollo and Dafne. The video tells the story. What the video can not tell is the deep emotion it creates when, walking in the baroque hall of the Cardinal Palace in Villa Borghese, you suddenly met this sculpture surrounded by paintings by Caravaggio and Raffaello. Gian Lorenzo Bernini made it; and since 1600 it is located in the Cardinal Scipione Borghese palace. Scipione Borghese was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church who had interests in arts, zoology, botanics and hostory. He has been a mecenate to Bernini who worked mainly for him.

Bernini created the life from the marble: the softness of the virginal flash, the featheriness of the leafy branches, the movement itself made of cupidity and desperation, the magic of the divine transformation. All are made of stone.
